WYP Training Philosophy
If you Google dog training, you’ll get a flood of “systems,” “styles,” and supposed scientific breakthroughs. Truth? Most of it is just behavioral psychology—stuff any human can relate to, just seen through the lens of a dog.
A dog is rewarded through the predatory sequence, wants to feel safe, and builds confidence when they actually understand what you’re trying to communicate and what you expect. Real training isn’t about fads or random dominance theories—it’s about logic, psychology, and making sense to the dog in front of you.
Every course I build is about helping you understand the advantages of all systems in dog training, without baffling you with bullshit. There’s no “alpha” posturing here, but you do need to know how to encourage a good attitude, create investment, and build strong motivation for your dog to want to work with you.
The real key? Establishing clear coaching languages—one to activate and go, one to give constructive criticism and get back on track. Clarity and understanding are everything. That’s what I teach, and that’s what every Work Your Pack course is designed to deliver: a logical, honest system that helps you and your dog actually understand each other and get things done—together.

Want a peek at how this actually works in practice? Every Work Your Pack course comes with its own step-by-step framework, tailored to the skills and goals you’re working on. Here’s the pyramid from Ignite Your Training System:

Remember, understanding the ingredients of a good training system is just the start. The real magic happens when you become the architect of your own program—applying these principles in a way that actually fits the dog in front of you.
There’s a scaffolded process to all of this because dogs don’t inherently speak human. You have to recognize what’s in your dog genetically, consider their breed and instincts, and make sure you’re not just suppressing what makes them a dog in the first place. Sometimes the biggest breakthrough is channeling their prey drive, encouraging them to hunt, solve problems, and letting them discover that the behavior you wanted was their advantage all along.
So yes, learn the system, but don’t forget: you’re the trainer, but you’re also a teammate. Relax, enjoy the process, and don’t get hung up on immediate results or perfection. This is a lifestyle—a training culture you build together with your dog.
